If designer fashion from beyond the grave is what fascinates you, you won't want to miss this special collection. Never shown at any other venue, this bounty is offered exclusively by our dealer Sally Farrell in booth #143 in the Main Ballroom at the Alameda Point Vintage Fashion Faire at the O' Club on Saturday, April 16th. Violet Welles is the writer for the original Dark Shadows series between 1969 and 1970. She wrote over 80 episodes in total. The character of Violet Collins in Return to Collinwood may have been named for her. She was a couture fashion collector and the clothes offered here indicate that she may have worn them at one of the many Dark... Continue reading

By

There are only two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were. Whether or not you're Irish or wish you were, we celebrate being green every month at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire with recycled and repurposed vintage goods. Today, I'm wearing a 50's three strand vintage necklace with multi-colored green beads found at the Point that two dealers sold to me for a song. Talk about the luck of the Irish...Happy St. Patrick's Day Vintage Lovers. I took this photo with my Hipstamatic. The vintage necklace was found at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire this year and I told the dealers I would wear it for St. Patrick's... Continue reading

Vintage Size Matters

December 29, 2010
By

As an antique show promoter for the Alameda Point Antiques Faire and Producer of the Alameda Point Vintage Fashion Faire, I often hear from our customers who comment on my vintage attire, “I love vintage clothes but I’m not small like you” or “I can’t find vintage clothing in my size.”  As a vintage collector, I may be a small size but I have curves and am not a stick figure, which is perfect for retro pinup clothing. While it’s true that vintage clothing is plentiful in small sizes, I find many stylish options for curvy women.  After all, Marilyn Monroe was not a size zero. Whose vintage style would you like to emulate? There are a bevy... Continue reading
