Welcome to the Alameda Point Antiques Faire Happy New Year to All! Our string of bad weather events continued on Sunday, January 2. Fortunately it was not a rainout as the rain stopped at 10:00am and most of the dealers and buyers in attendance who were waiting for the predicted break in the weather were rewarded with sunny skies. All of us at Antiques by the Bay wish to express our gratitude for the continued support from our Faire shoppers, as well as the hundreds of vendors of fine antiques and collectibles at the Point. As you can see our magazine, The Point, has now taken on a new format. This new format will be easier to tote around as you... Continue reading

"A bricoleur is someone who takes something that is available to them and recreates something that is new, like repurposing." ~The Vintage Bricoleur Antique dealers Terry and Danny Sjotvedt sell regularly at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire in "P8" and when we photographed their whimsical booth, specializing in unique items, they reported that they had sold most of their best inventory by the end of the day. The rain had been good for business. They had enclosed their booth and provided shoppers sanctuary with a covered beach vibe reminding them of sunnier days to come. a little "sun" in "P8" Photos by Jara... Continue reading

January 17, 2011

It’s a new year and it’s time to make those resolutions! Look back at the past and forward to the future at the Point. It’s the perfect time to do some redecorating and buy some new vintage threads to spruce up your wardrobe. Hang on to your hats and don’t let winter give you the blues. The weather at December’s show didn’t prevent shoppers from finding treasures at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire (myself included) and retro steals can make anyone’s rainy day a bit brighter. If you didn't get a chance to pick up the Point Magazine, here are some of my tips on retro trends in my Vintage Style Solutions column. Give yourself permission... Continue reading

New dealers to the Alameda Point Antiques Faire,  Ernie and Theresa Viray didn't let the rain prevent them from going all out in decorating their booth in vintage Christmas festive style which made them the featured dealer of the month of December. In fact, Ernie got out a Victorian chair, brought an anatomically correct guest and helper Karen Washington, who is an avid antique collector and crafter decked her out. They don't have a permanent booth location yet but look for them in the Point magazine every month to find their booth space. The rain didn't put a damper on shopping in the Viray's booth A festive ghost from Christmas past... Continue reading

What’s New at the Faire: “Rain-Outs, Second Chances”

December 5, 2010
By

We are happy to welcome all of our dedicated Antiques Faire shoppers and dealers to our December 2010 Faire, which is our 148th show! We were all very disappointed on November 7th to have our monthly event completely rained out. We know that our shoppers really look forward to the faire and for many of the antiques vendors, Alameda Point has become the most important show at which they sell. In fact, many of our vendors set up exclusively at Alameda Point. Because of the importance of our event to so many people it is very upsetting to have the show rained out as occurred last month. (Be aware however that even if it rains, the... Continue reading
